Representative imageNAWANSHAHR: Several village Pathlawa youths have written a letter to Punjab chief minister to stop vilification campaign against late Baldev Singh , first Covid-19 casualty in Punjab, and not just take action against Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala , for shaming and blaming the late patient but also reprimanding Punjab DGP for promoting this video song. Apart from sending a letter to the CM, signed by 19 village residents, these youths also sent out a video message to media on Tuesday. In the letter they said that after his death a vilification campaign was unleashed against Baldev Singh and it was built on the premise that the 70 years old patient knew that he was coronavirus infected and he concealed it from others. “You can check from health department that it was only after his death that it was confirmed that he was infected by coronavirus. They have said that Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and Punjab DGP further fuelled this propaganda as former sang a video song in which not only Baldev’s pictures were used but he was called Paapi (sinner). “Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta has shared this song, sung by an accused, from his official twitter handle. "On one side district adminstration, health department and local police officials have been taking care of us like Devtas (gods) but top officers are runing propaganda against us," they said. The 5.18 minute long video titled 'Gwacheya Gurbaksh' was uploaded by Sidhu Moosewala on his official Youtube channel with 31.47 million subscribers on Thursday late evening and a couple of hours later it was shared on official twitter handles of Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta and of Punjab Police. Though name has been changed to Gurbaksh Gwachya but photos of Baldev Singh have been repeatedly shown in the video. Download Subscribe Start Your Daily Mornings with Times of India Newspaper!
