Histoire de l'art

This exhibit begins with art from the Paleolithic era. This exhibit features works from the Franco-Cantabrian region including pictures with magical-religious character and also pictures with a naturalistic sense which depict animals. Come see examples from the caves of Altamira, Trois Frères, Chauvet and Lascaux.

In the second room of the exhibit there are examples from Mesopotamia of wood carvings and relief art from Sumeria and Assyria.

The third room contains paintings and religious art from 3000 to 1000 years ago. This is the largest room of the exhibition and the only room with canvas paintings.

The final room of the exhibit contains scale model replicas of installation art from the Sphinx to modern very large installations.

The entire exhibition has accompanying audio tour and multimedia content which can be accessed using iOS and Android devices over our Wi-Fi connection. Archos tablets are available for rent also.
